Welcome To the Oberlin Public Library!
While many resources are available to all members of the public, getting a library card is your key to unlimited sources of information, continuing education, cultural opportunities, and recreation.
In order to obtain a library card, you will need to visit our Circulation Desk and complete an application. We also require a valid photo ID and proof of Ohio residency. All patron information is kept confidential in accordance with our privacy policy.
Once you have your card, please bring it with you at all times, and remember to help us keep your file current by reporting any telephone, address, or name changes. You are responsible for items borrowed on your card. If your card is lost or stolen, please report it immediately to protect your account. You will be charged the repair or replacement costs for any lost or damaged items associated with your account.
LOAN Periods
All books and audio books -- 3 WEEKS
New release DVDs -- 3 DAYS
DVDs, CDs, CD-ROMs, Magazines, Holiday books, Puzzles, and Kits -- 1 WEEK
Your card is limited to 50 total items checked out at any given time. Limits on individual items: 50 books or audiobooks, 2 new release DVDs, 5 regular DVDs, 10 CDs/CD-ROMs, 10 magazines, and 5 puzzles.
All materials may be renewed once if there are no pending reserves. You can renew and reserve items in person, by phone, or through the online catalog.
Fines & FEES
Card Replacement -- $1.00
Black and White Prints or Copies -- $0.10 per page
Color Prints or Copies -- $0.25 per page
A Selection of policies and important rules
In order to best provide an atmosphere conducive to learning for our diverse and inclusive community, we ask that you treat staff members and fellow patrons with respect. Please be mindful of the following rules:
No eating or drinking outside of the lobby.
No loud talking.
No running or horseplay.
Do not damage or steal library material.
Parents may not leave children aged 6 years and under unattended in the library. Parents are responsible for their children's behavior while in the library.
Children with library cards may check out any library material. It is the parents' responsibility to monitor the content and quantity of materials borrowed by their children.
Looking at pornographic material on the internet will not be tolerated.
