The Friends of the Oberlin Public Library
Anyone can join the Friends!
The Friends of the Oberlin Public Library is a 501 (c)(3) organization designed to help staff and trustees provide the best public library for the Oberlin community.
Become a member of the Friends by completing an annual membership form. Membership starts as low as $10 for seniors and students. Members receive a bi-annual newsletter, get special invitations to members’ events, and have the satisfaction of knowing that their financial support helps make the library an essential part of the community.
What do the friends do?
The primary purpose of the Friends of the Oberlin Public Library is to financially support special purchases and educational programs and projects that enhance the library’s services. Membership fees are a large part of the special funds that make these programs and projects possible. The Friends have recently supported:
• Ongoing beautification projects to the garden area and the entrance to the lobby.
• Improving the lobby area to include more books and other reading materials for library patrons.
• Numerous educational programs and activities throughout the year for children and adults.
• Renovations to the staff lounge and kitchen area.
• The mural wall, part of Oberlin ’s annual Chalk Walk
Friends’ activities are coordinated by a volunteer board. Anyone interested in serving on the board should mark their interest on their annual membership renewal card or contact the Friends via email at fopl.oberlin@gmail.com.
